CLS Men’s Process Group to Treat Out of Control/Impulsive Sexual Behavior: Working Towards Sexual Health

Beginning March 2021

sex addiction mens groupThis weekly virtual group is for men who are seeking to feel more integrative in their goals and actions emotionally, relationally and sexually. This group helps men identify the internal conflicts between their goals and their current behaviors, and work on resolving the ambivalence to making the changes they want to make. It will also be a supportive environment for men to help each other explore their decisions, support them when they have faltered on their goals and provide alternative strategies that have helped them in their health journey.

The expectation is that clients will have had 4 individual sessions with Sari Cooper to:

  • discuss their goals
  • provide some history of the problem
  • articulate an initial Sexual Health Plan before they join the group

There’s an expectation that members commit to attending weekly for 4 months so as to ensure the ability for the group members to depend on one another in a sustainable way.

The group will be a process group in which members can share what is going on in their lives and how they may be struggling or challenged by their boundary goals.
They’ll learn about potential underlying disorders which may have never been diagnosed and treated before. It is not uncommon for clients to discover they have been dealing with disorders like: Depression, Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder for years without getting the proper treatment.

Members will Learn new stress and coping mechanisms including: mindfulness, CBT, and embodied recovery. They’ll develop integrated and positive coping skill in their sexual lives for themselves and with their partners if they are in a relationship or dating.
