Lauren’s utilizes the CLS Sex Esteem® therapeutic approach . Included in the Sex Esteem® model are the specific techniques of Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Hakomi techniques. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy utilizes the replacement of negative or ineffective thoughts with healthier thoughts to alter unhealthy behavior. A systemic lens aims to address client’s problems by helping them change the way their interactions cause varying consequences and patterns within a system. This system can be one with their partner/spouse, with their family of origin, their nuclear family including their children or their circle of friends. Lauren incorporates the Sex Esteem® model to help clients overcome shame, self-criticism and anxiety around their deepest erotic desires.
Each interaction is addressed in relation to habitual patterns that may have become stuck or conflictual and a systemic therapist makes interventions at helping the client(s) consciously make healthier choices to create more intimacy or functionality in these relationships.
Lauren is a collaborative therapist who works with clients’ strengths to explore the behaviors, thoughts, communication patterns, and interactional patterns that are associated with the problems presented. After a thorough initial assessment, she works with clients to clarify goals, identify resolutions to the presenting issues, followed by a wide array of interventions, home assignments and bibliotherapy to help achieve these goals.
Lauren understands that people often find it challenging or embarrassing to discuss their sexual lives with anyone. She takes pride in providing a judgment-free space with compassion, empathy, and openness so that her clients feel safe. Lauren recognizes the diversity of each person and adapts her therapeutic techniques to the unique needs of each client/couple. Her ultimate goal for each of her clients is to provide them with tools and specific techniques to master and utilize during and after completing their work with her in therapy.
